Emmanuel Adebayor to Crystal Palace: Former Arsenal, Spurs and Man City man gets mixed reaction at new club

Emmanuel Adebayor has joined Crystal Palace and the reaction was... mixed, to say the least.

The Togolese striker has been without a club since September when and Tottenham Hotspur decided to terminate his contract at White Hart Lane.

Adebayor, now 31, is undoubtedly talented, as his record of 96 goals in 230 Premier League games proves - Didier Drogba (104) is the only African player to have scored more in the division.                      But while his statistics and back catalogue looks great on paper, his attitude and work rate often tells a different story, as fans of Arsenal, Manchester City and Spurs will admit.

While Adebayor has had periods where he could claim to be among the best strikers in the Premier League, at other times he has been accused of being a greedy, lazy waste of space.

However, with Crystal Palace's current crop of strikers scoring just one league goal between them (that was a penalty) it was a risk worth taking by Alan Pardew.

Here is some of the best reaction to his signing:

The only problem I have with Emmanuel Adebayor is not related to his talent, it's the fact he has no passion for the game. Poisoned chalice.
Dan Pearce @DanPearce1982
Adebayor is a cracking short term signing to be fair. He feels wronged and he's after another pay day. He'll play out of his skin for Palace                             Paul Gellard @PauloSimao55
How the hell does Adebayor keep finding clubs stupid enough to pay him a salary? You get 1 decent month and that's it. #GreatMysteries                  source: Independent UK
